Headhunter Artists Are Soul Funkin' With Singer Tony Adamo [07 Oct 2011|10:08pm]

0klman

The famed Headhunters jazz/fusion/funk band (once-backing members for Herbie Hancock), are recording with singer and hip/spoken word artist, Tony Adamo in October. Rob Dixon and Gary Mielke, the co-producers of the Headhunters new CD, PLATINUM on Indianapolis based label Owl Studios, along with legendary funk drummer and Headhunters member Mike Clark, will co-produce Adamo’s new CD. Clark, who has played on two of Adamo’s previous releases, STRAIGHT UP DEAL and WHAT IS HIP? has added master percussionist and long time Headhunter member, Bill Summers to record new tracks for Adamo’s CD.
This won’t be the first time the Headhunters have brought some kool struttin’ and soul funkin’ to Adamo’s music. On his “WHAT IS HIP? CD, Mike Clark (drums), Bill Summers (percussion) and new Headhunter, Richie Goods (bass) cooked up a new soul groove for Adamo’s retooling of the Tower of Power hit, “What is Hip?” along with Tower of Power co-founder Stephen “Doc” Kupka. They fused an insatiable groove that is interwoven throughout this funk/jazz/ and hip/spoken word mash up of a song. The funky “Doc’s” iconic horn playing will be added to Adamo’s new CD at a later date to anchor the horn section headed up by Headhunter member Rob Dixon (soprano/alto/tenor sax and keyboards). Tony Adamo is a Strokeland record artist. Doc Kupka is the founder and owner of Strokeland records.

AndrewVictoria Music Duo: Triple Threat & Triple Treat! [06 Sep 2011|03:32pm]

0klman

Show like American Idol, Xfactor and Karaoke Battle USA are proving there's a wealth of fabulous undiscovered singers and musicians out there. But how many of them write their own material, work the stage like they were born to it, and can sell originals to audiences who line up after a show for an autograph on a simple home-produced acoustic CD?
That's the magic of singer/songwriter duo, AndrewVictoria who have been stacking up the honors for their songwriting since February 2011 when they won "Songwriter of the Month" at SONGWRITER'S UNIVERSE for their original, "It's Not Over". A month or two later, they took out 2nd place in New York's CLASH OF THE ARTISTS songwriting division for 3 more songs.
This was followed in June by a fabulous win in their own hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, when they took home "the DEVA" and a cash prize for their gorgeous song "REPEAT YESTERDAY" in the H24 Songwriting Challenge. That contest was indeed a challenge to all who entered: contestants were given 24 hours to come up with an original song that adhered to 3 strict criteria. They then had to perform it for a live audience 24 hours later. You can read the details and see a video of the events while listening to the song itself at AndrewVictoria's YouTube site. Incidentally, AndrewVictoria also provide a link there for a FREE DOWNLOAD of this beautiful love-song, "Repeat Yesterday".

This album was played for a ballet made by Vanessa Villain, called "Subliminal", telling how the man exploit the Earth and how in return nature take her revenge. Shortly after happens the one of most devastating tsunami in south-east Asia.
Raksha Bandhan is dedicated to Ganga Bharty & Morihei Ueshiba.
The all album is dedicated to the Sadhu who lived on the top of Arunachala (the hill behind Tiruvinamalai)

Ujjaya is one man project, Randriambololona Hery, living in France but who have malagasy root, and travel throughIndia and South-east Asia, playing dozen of exotic instruments. At the very begining in the ealy 90 I was an electric guitarist that was fascinated with the unexplore potency of that instrument. As a spiritual seeker too, my music basically rooted in the metal, prog rock was aiming more and more toward the ambient music.

ca466 - Yonograph - Silent Opening [30 Aug 2011|11:00pm]

Artist: Yonograph
Title: Silent Opening
#ca466
Date: 2011-08-29
Keywords: folk; rock; acoustic
(320 kbps)

Originally released in 2008 in a limited handmade CD package, "Silent Opening" is an intimate folk/rock debut album from the french songwriter Yonograph (Yohann Antignac).
After playing in different bands and artistic projects, Yohann played solo on stage in 2006 under the name of "Yoan and the Silent Phonograph".
Why this name? Maybe to refer to the good old music values which disappeared day after day...or maybe just because of the worry of feeling lonely on stage.
The "one man band" became Yonograph in 2010 after many gigs everywhere in France...

Sad, lonely, final... is a set of free improvisations, or in other words:
compositions in real time for solo piano. Lonely meditations that go through a lot of places, colours and musics: from the melancholy of buenos aires and her tango to the violence of new york and her jazz, crossing the impressionist landscapes of european music and beyond...

Hip Hop Artist Karolina Blue Drops 2nd Single, "Times Is Hard," From Debut Album Street Educated [23 Aug 2011|09:07am]

0klman

Hip hop artist Karolina Blue announced the release of “Times Is Hard,” which is the second track from his debut album Street Educated. “Times Is Hard” follows his debut single, “Street Educated,” which was well received by critics and fans, and released on Karolina Blue’s own label M-Stars Entertainment. Both tracks and the full EP are available at all major online retailers.
“Times Is Hard” begins slowly with an electronic guitar intro and then goes right into a hard groove mode. The bass, percussion, guitar riffs, and background harmonies are the perfect backdrop for the story Karolina Blue is conveying. Lyrically impressive from beginning to end, “Times Is Hard” addresses the struggle of many black families that is all too common these days with a single mother raising several kids and struggling to make it through times that are almost impossible – not just hard. But he gives his mother props for the job she did with the hand she was dealt – something many more inner city youth should understand and be thankful for. “Though times are hard/We’ll make a way” “It must be the norm/Black kids being poor/And some of them black kids don’t have a mother to adore/Nor father in the house/So they’re looking at the world/Seeing no way out/”. “Times Is Hard” is definitely a solid, profound, and thought provoking track that is truly meaningful in today’s society.
Street Educated can be purchased at the following online retailers: http://www.amazon.com/Street-Educated-Explicit/dp/B004JYQFHK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1312585708&sr=8-2
